Fumigation & Preservation
Many items for sale on this site are made from locally sourced timber. As a result, please note that the naturally occurring borer may be dormant within the wood. Very rarely are borer found in bark used for painting.
To combat the likelihood of this occurring, all works are subject to a freezing treatment. This involves storing the works at minus 20 degrees celsius for several days. This kills any insect that may be present and destroys any eggs. However Maningrida Arts cannot guarantee that all items are 'borer free'.
While not absolutely necessary, we also recommend the irradiation services of Steritech, based in Sydney and Melbourne, if extra precautionary measures are sought. If you are interested in this secondary method, please contact us for further information.
